I always like to answer the questions that need be answered so with these above things in mind let's start with the blog. The following are the questions, the President and the MD of Ringing Bells answered recently and I am going to do my best and paraphrase them for you in layman's terms.

Q1. How does the company make the profit, selling the phone for a mere 251 INR? ($4 USD)

AC: "The price is based on 4 pillars.
a) Technology.
b) The economy of scale. Which means that by producing a high volume of handsets, we can reduce the cost of the production.
c) Low marketing, insane costs. which means we cut down the costs that go into the marketing part of the sales and drop down the price drastically.
d) Innovative marketing: Ringing Bells has revenue investments from other bigger companies that bring down the cost of the cell phone from thousands of rupees to hundreds of rupees and I am not at liberty to discuss the details of said investments as we've signed NDA's (Non-Disclosure Agreement) with the companies."

He further continues to say "and also our own, 'Make In India' initiative allow us to save production costs of about 13.5% from the import duty"

Q2. Will the company be able to deliver the phones to every single customer that orders it?

MG: "We currently have 50 Lac units ready to be shipped to the customers out of which 25 Lac will be delivered sold online and 25 Lac offline. And all phones will reach the customers by the end of June 2016

Q3. Why 251 Rupees phone?
MG: "Even thou the cell phone sales have skyrocketed in India in the last couple of years, only 30% of them are smartphones, a lot of people still buy feature phones worth rupees 700 to 1000 INR. We are pushing to fill this market and give the masses an opportunity to own a smartphone"

So, that is what the President and the MD of Ringing Bells had to say about the questions we all had on our mind. Well, I have new questions. All tech savvy people are now aware and are asking, Why are you covering up the "Adkom" company logo atop the phone with a white paint and selling it as your own device? I personally don't mind the paint job as long as i am getting a smartphone for 250 rupees but the point is that you're lying to the masses. Maybe this is the revenue investment, Mr. Ashok Chadha said he did not have the liberty to speak about because he's under NDA!

Nevertheless, the phone has some great features we cannot even fathom having on a device this cheap, let me tell you one thing, don't go by the pictures, freedom251.com is displaying. It's actually butt ugly but hey, it houses a front camera and 8 GB internal storage so who am I to judge!!

The booking issue persisted with the website constantly and my booking was successful after a dozen attempts on 20/2/2016 and I was promised a confirmation email about the payment method within 48 hours, which I never got, that makes the whole scenario even more shady. I am glad I haven't paid yet.

With more and more doubts and speculations mounting on top of each other, the company has now displayed a message that says they have sold out all cell phones with phase 1 and thanks us all.

The company now has super high responsibility to the citizens of the country and the reputation of Mr. Narendra Modi on line.

Let us pay, deliver us the phone in June, (without the adkom coverup) we'll shake hands and make up. What say @RingingBells ?
